Let’s Talk Coffee prepares for September event

Let’s Talk Coffee (LTC) 2018 will take place 20 – 23 September in Cartagena, Colombia, at the Intercontinental Cartagena hotel.

LTC is an intimate event exploring the cutting-edge of specialty coffee, building sustainable business relationships, and shining a light on the rising coffee region of Huila, Colombia.

Speakers at the event include Agnieszka Rojewska, World Barista Champion (WBC) who will re-create her performance and discuss her journey to becoming the first woman to win the WBC; Mario Fernández of Coffee Quality Institute and Manuel Diaz of Ona Consulting, who together will contribute their origin insights into the latest processing; and James Hoffmann, former World Barista Champion and Founder of Square Mile Coffee Roasters, who will deliver a presentation called “A New Social Contract” about how buyers and producers interact.

The event allows attendees to connect with the coffee producers who form the backbone of the supply chain to establish relationships and learn from each other.

LTC will have a diverse roster of coffees from around the globe ready to sample. Many of the dedicated producers who grew them will be in the room.

The cupping schedule will showcase the diversity of Colombian coffee, including the southern region’s Cauca, Nariño, and Tolima, the central area’s Risaralda and Valle del Cauca, and natural- and honey-processed coffees from the country.

The event will host the HarVee Awards, in which Sustainable Harvest honours members of the coffee supply chain for their performance.

LTC concludes with field trips to coffee farms, providing attendees with a hands-on, tactical origin experience. This year, attendees can choose between heading to Huila or Santa Marta, two top regions for specialty coffee that will give attendees a chance to meet farmers.
