Massimo Zanetti acquires Portuguese company Cafés Nandi

The Massimo Zanetti Beverage Group subsidiary Massimo Zanetti Beverage Iberia has completed its acquisition of Portuguese food service company Cafés Nandi.

Cafés Nandi is equipped with a modern plant, adjacent to the current production site of Massimo Zanetti Beverage Iberia. The group says Cafés Nandi’s production site will enable it to double the current production capacity of its Portuguese plant.

“I’m proud we have completed the acquisition of Cafés Nandi, a company based in Amadora, near Lisbon, which will enable us to expand the existing production site and to double production capacity, during 2019, to meet the growing demand at European level, also for single serves. The new plant will be equipped with cutting-edge technology to take up new challenges and achieve major new expansion goals,” The Group’s Chairman and CEO Massimo Zanetti says.

Founded in 1960, Cafés Nandi was the first Portuguese company to achieve the European Union’s environmental standards

The Group says Massimo Zanetti Beverage Iberia, including subsidiaries Segafredo Zanetti, Nicola, and Chave D’Ouro Cafés, will become one of its key industrial poles.

Massimo Zanetti Beverage Iberia says the acquisition of Cafés Nandi, which operates in the food service segment under the Nandi brand, will increase its number of clients in this channel.

On 1 February, the Massimo Zanetti Beverage Group, through its Australian subsidiary, also finalised its acquisition of The Bean Alliance, first announced in October, 2018.

“We are very satisfied with this deal. Australia is an interesting market with a well-established high-quality coffee culture and with the preference of independent roasters,” Zanetti says.

“The Bean Alliance, which has been active in the Australian market for over 35 years, was able to create premium brands that stood out for product innovation, in particular in the local roasted growing channel, and for the sustainability project, as confirmed by the many awards and certifications obtained. In addition to strengthening Massimo Zanetti Beverage Group’s presence in Australia, The Bean Alliance’s acquisition opens up an additional development opportunity in the [Asia Pacific] market.”
