The future comes as standard with WMF

The new WMF 5000 S+ specialty machine for upscale requirements completes the range of solutions provided by the new generation platform.

Germany-based coffee machine manufacturer WMF has delivered its complete solutions package to customers in a performance class that caters to upscale coffee requirements with the WMF 5000 S+.

“Thanks to the [WMF 5000 S+, and] the flexible settings for each individual beverage, nearly every customer requirement can be met,” Viola Linke, Vice President Global Marketing GBU Professional Coffee Machines at WMF Group, says.

The intuitive 10-inch touch display is just one of the features that the new machine has to offer. Others include the self-regulating and networked technologies integrated into it, such as Dynamic Milk Assist, Dynamic Coffee Assist, and WMF CoffeeConnect.

Designed to suit a recommended output of 250 cups per day, this fully automatic machine is also able to provide an outstanding digital coffee experience, even in situations where space is tight.

With two bean hoppers available, in 700-gram and 1100-gram capacity, a powder hopper accommodating 2000 grams, and a manual insert for ground coffee, users can let their creativity flourish when devising coffee recipes.

Every quality parameter – water, milk, coffee, chocolate, or the addition of syrup – can be managed easily using the 10-inch touch display, which supports both visual and audio output. Users can intuitively navigate the menu functions with touch and swipe motions, and access different template options and special functions, such as a touch slider for customising cup volume.

The fully automatic machine display has an adaptable look and feel, with the colour scheme and the language both easy to change. Another feature is the ability to access handling videos, nutritional information, and promotional offers.

WMF aims to ensure that its fully automatic coffee machines of the next generation are able to monitor themselves, and make their own adjustments by running quality control loops. 

These capabilities are now also integrated into the WMF 5000 S+, and include the important feature of Dynamic Coffee Assist, which Linke says permanently guarantees the highest quality of all espresso-based coffee specialties.

“Once the beverage quality has been set, it is continuously monitored and the most important factor for enjoyment, the grinding degree, is automatically adjusted if necessary. This way, brewing time, extraction, and value remain consistent, and you can be sure to offer your customers consistent coffee quality of the highest level at all times,” she says.

Where milk management is concerned, Dynamic Milk Assist ensures that the machine can maintain high levels of milk foam.

This involves a Milk Excellence Sensor that uses ultrasonic technology to measure the flow and the temperature of the milk without contact. The basis for this sensor is the use of high-quality precisely fitting components in combination with long-term pre-series testing for the best adjustment of the overall system.

Malfunctions due to air bubbles are also detected accurately. If deviating results occur, the system automatically adjusts the settings.

The WMF 5000 S+ also includes access to the WMF CoffeeConnect digital telemetry solution as standard. This feature helps customers make their businesses more profitable. This begins with the purchase and setup of the machine, and covers everything from management of the entire fleet of coffee machines right through to custom sales campaigns.

Operators can remotely monitor, control, manage, and optimise their coffee business. WMF CoffeeConnect provides an overview of machine status or revenues, errors and information regarding coffee machines, consumption, peak times, and many other remote functions.

WMF’s Know-how Center is available to solve any issue or error that may occur, with tools including written and video supported instructions, and an algorithm ensuring the best solution is shown.

An Online Shop provides an easy process to order cleaning supplies, spare parts, and accessories.

“Close cooperation with customers, suppliers and business partners is indispensable,” Linke says.

“In combination with our own more than 90 years of coffee expertise, this close cooperation leads to solutions that specifically meet the needs of the market and the customer.”

WMF was founded in 1853 as a tableware manufacturer named Straub and Schweizer. By the turn of the century, WMF had become the largest producer of household metalware in the world.

In 1899, WMF made its first attempt at manufacturing a hotel coffee machine. It began production of its first large-scale coffee machines in 1927. WMF launched its first super-automatic machine, Programat 1, in 1969.

“Every machine produced must meet the strict WMF quality standards,” Linke says. “We have excellently trained teams, continuous improvement processes, integrated IT systems, state-of-the-art production lines, and the necessary spirit. WMF machines stand for ‘Made in Germany’ since 1927.

“The production process of the fully automatic machine ranges from the pre-production of the required parts and their assembly, through intermediate and final tests during production, to cleaning, packaging, and delivery to the warehouse.”

Looking ahead, WMF expects the prominence of fully automated coffee production to grow, and plans to grow with it.

“There is a strongly growing demand for fully automatic coffee machines worldwide,” Linke says. “[In the future,] we will [make] further improvements and, of course, some surprises.”
