Lavazza pledges US$11.8 million to coronavirus relief

Lavazza Group has pledged €10 million (about US$11.8 million) to support coronavirus relief efforts in the Piedmonte region, Italy on 17 March 2020.

Lavazza will donate €6 million (about US$6.8 million) to the Piedmont Regional Council’s fundraising appeal, Coronavirus Emergency Support, to purchase materials required for healthcare facilities and frontline staff.

A further €3 million (about US$3.4 million) will be donated to the La Stampa Foundation, an organisation which is supporting three areas: providing hospitals with new equipment and medical supplies including advanced testing equipment at the Amedeo di Savoia Hospital in Turin, issuing free sanitisation kits to schools in Turin, and delivering basic necessities to the elderly who are experiencing physical or economic hardship.

The remaining €1 million (about US$1.1 million) will be distributed to a variety of groups in the Piedmont region to support other vulnerable groups.

“The Lavazza Group and its entire workforce wish to send a positive signal and show solid commitment in the fervent belief that if everyone pulls together at this time, we can get through the emergency and make Italy shine once again,” Lavazza says in a statement.
